Shape-Optimized Luggage Handle

Additive Manufacturing
May — June 2022
Stanford, CA
I had two options: use generative design or shape optimization to create a luggage handle. Considering the need for ergonomic design, specific use cases, and other constraints,I used Fusion360 {CAD, shape optimization, finite element analysis (FEA)} and FormLabs Form 3 & Tough2000 to create a spring-loaded luggage handle that can hold 50lbs in any orientation.

The constraints and requirements for this project include using either shape optimization or generative design, and the given timeframe for carrying this out from ideation to manufacturing was 3 weeks.
